Kit Spotlight- Realwear Headsets

At the iAero Centre, we are excited to showcase our cutting-edge digital technology, including the innovative Realwear headsets. In these photos, you can see Freya, one of our Engineering Apprentices, using the headset to build a paper aeroplane. The headset’s eye-piece displays step-by-step instructions, allowing Freya to follow along seamlessly. Although these headsets typically operate wirelessly, for this demonstration, I connected them to a laptop so others could share Freya’s view. Thanks to the hands-free guidance, Freya successfully crafted a precise paper aeroplane.

This simple task demonstrates just a glimpse of what these headsets are capable of. Our vision is to integrate this technology into real-world applications, such as training and remote assistance. For example, the headsets can connect to an iPad, allowing the person on the other end to see exactly what the wearer sees through the headset’s camera. This capability enables instant advice and instructions from experts in different locations, even across the globe.
